Family Day – Planes

It’s been ages since our last family day, we had one back in February, for Valentines, but I didn’t manage to tell you about it.

Saturday the 12th of June was Family Plane Day.  We had a very busy day with planes from breakfast to dinner.

The children were greeted with the following when they got up out of bed…

And a little ‘light’ decoration (supposed to be clouds and the ribbon is blue for sky, just in case you weren’t sure!)

We packed our suitcase and hand-luggage…

Watched an emergency procedure video

Handed out our boarding passes…

And we were off in our car-plane (or is that plane-car)!

First destination a nice stretch of tree-less grass by the river where we unpacked our suitcase,

munched on morning tea,

made rubber-band planes

dodgy $2 ones, that ended up quite wonky… but cute none the less.

and made an attempt at flying a plane-kite (or is that kite-plane?).

Time to reboard our road-craft and head to the next point on our itinerary.

Elisha was so excited.  I was so surprised.  He has been here once before.  Three and a half years ago when he was two and a half.  Yet as soon as we pulled into the driveway he knew where we were going.

We stopped for a bite to eat before heading in.

The main attraction in the museum is this beauty, a Lancaster.  It is so BIG.

A rest was required by several of the passengers, so a brief home stop-over was made.

Later in the afternoon we went to Jandakot Airport.  This has been a favourite spot of ours to visit for a long time.  I’m so glad it was recommended to me and that it is not too far from home.

Our day was nearly done, but I had one more easy idea, Brett raced off to the video shop and we watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang while eating dinner.

And that, my friends, was Plane Day!
