Day 17

Karijini

Oh my.  What an amazing day.  We climbed through the easy part of Weano Gorge today.  It was magical.  No. Really.  The kids complained all the way into the gorge, and stopped as soon as we got in, and started up again as soon as we got out.  But as you’ll see, it’s no wonder they forgot to complain.

Amazing.

Heading toward the gorge. By the way, I love this photo.  I’m thinking about editing it and blowing it up to hang somewhere…

Starting to head down into the gorge.

weano_down_we_goWe saw lots of these gorgeous ants on the way down.

Around about this point we spotted some small wildlife – a red dragonfly and a skink – but the photos were not so great.

We found a pretty place to stop for a rest and some morning tea.

weano_up_outThis photo was taken from Junction Pool lookout. Can you spot the Three Sisters?  Oxer lookout is also visible in this photo.

oxer_lookoutI’m not sure how I could have forgotten, but the roads to get to Weano Gorge were extremely corrugated and we had an interesting time driving there and back.  Brett and I were laughing madly, but the kids were not impressed.

We loved the gorge and it was a wonderful reminder of the amazing awesomeness of God’s creation.  To top it all off, when we were almost back to the camp site after seeing all the beauty of the gorge we got a brilliant reminder of one of his promises.
