Day 48

Victoria River Roadhouse – Katherine

Here we are at the Roadhouse before heading off this morning.

And this was the view as we drove out of the roadhouse.  Just beyond imagination.

vic_river_roadhouse_viewAs we came into Katherine there was a lot of smoke from controlled burns.

katherine_smokeGuess where we went first? The tourist information centre of course!  There were interesting birds in the garden. Doves I think.

We worked out where to stay, got unhitched and set up, and then went back into town for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, back at the caravan park, we were treated to watching the control burns happen right across the road.  I had to quickly go and get the washing off the line so that it didn’t smell like smoke.

It was great entertainment for the kids!

I found this odd photo in the mix and had no idea what it was from.  Then I thought about it a bit longer and remembered that Cayley got stuck in the toilet, and I had her take a photo to see what kind of lock it was, so that I could try and help her better.

And later on in the evening we found a gecko in the bathroom.  It really is the place for some interesting animal sightings.
