Away

I didn’t forget about blogging, or even get too busy.

We’ve been away in Augusta.  It was just what our family needed.

More detailed post and photos coming soon.

Smokin’

The poor old blog is practically on fire from all the use it’s getting.

I am a big fan of miniature toys.  Cayley loves her Shopkins.  The boys love their Trash Packs.

I couldn’t pick my favourite smoke picture so I used two today.  Thanks Brett for helping me get these shots.

Actually these two days together make me think about the passage in the part of the Bible written by James that talks about the power and the evil of the tongue.  It really is true that no person has ever tamed the tongue – and it is very true for me.  Such a small part of the body and yet it can set everything on fire.  Lord, give me grace today to speak with kindness and gentleness.

Eep!

With an extra four gorgeous kids in the house and soaring temperatures meaning we stayed indoors instead of venturing out I got a little behind (read: exhausted!).  I still took photos for my 365 project.  Sharing those now.

I know I’m not in the picture, but this is what my day was about.  These gorgeous kids.

This present that Jos got for his sixth birthday was (and is) very interesting.  Called an addict-a-ball.  Highly recommend it.  Actually it would be quite interesting to take a shot of just this at some point.

Morning tea with Gran and Opa before the extras headed home.

Elisha loves this new arrangement of a bit of Angband with dad before bed.

Some of the things Wycliffe (my Thermomix (want one? ask me about that!)) has been making today – carrot cake, man-pleasing chicken, coconut cream and currently cooking at time of photo veggies to go with the chicken and rice.

I had to make this photo count somehow for the theme because it was the only series of shots I took today.

Lists & Planning

I love planning.  I love lists.

I hate being a slave to both of the above.  But it happens all the time.

So often everything in our home is about me getting the next thing on my  list done, and not really about the best interests of everyone in our family.

Lots of thinking going on in my head the last few days.

Prayers for more grace and more Christ-likeness, it’s the only way.

I want to learn to be fun, to laugh more and be more spontaneous.

And somehow still be organised.

And what’s the photo got to do with anything?  Nothing

Just my photo for the 365 project…

004/365 – funny
Reading is a huge part of our family life. We read a huge variety of stuff (you can really tell by my great vocabulary!), but Calvin & Hobbes will probably ALWAYS be my favourite comic, Bill Watterson – genius – I mean, look at that expression! Nailed it.

Not So Easy

It is so easy to say, “I’m going to blog every day next year.”

What is not so easy is the doing.

I’ve been pondering that perhaps I shouldn’t be so quick in the saying.

The Bible has something to say about this too…

Proverbs 10:19 –
Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues.

Proverbs 21:23
Those who guard their mouths and their tongues
keep themselves from calamity.

Proverbs 29:20
Do you see someone who speaks in haste?
There is more hope for a fool than for them.

In reflection, there is a lot of good that could come from me pausing and thinking before speaking.  Especially to Brett and the children.

I’m going to be thinking about this some more.

But now, I have posted for today.

Here’s a photo for aesthetics.

New

I’ve joined a threesixfive photo project for 2015.

Jos playing with his new remote controlled car.  Brett shooting some hoops in the background.

Short and sweet, but I’ve posted!

It’s A Brand New Year

And I’d really like to get back into blogging.  There is so much to write about, and so much that I forget when I don’t write about things.

But the thing is, do I write about everything, or pick one thing.  I’m thinking that a bit of a mix might be the way to go for the moment.

A little of my walk with Jesus, our family, Thermomix, scrapbooking and everything in between.  Let’s see where this takes us.
